Thomas Prydell
Thomas is the son of Robert Prydell and was born about 1450 in Tintinhull in Somerset.

Another name for Thomas is Priddle

In this year, 1450;
  • 1st July, The Duke of Somerset surrenders Caen to the French.
In 1476 there is a Thos. Prydell who began as a Proctor in Tintinhull at Michaelmass until the next according to the Churchwardens Accounts of 1476 to 1477.  A Proctor is a representative of the clergy.  The Church of St. Margaret of Antioch in Tintinhull dates from the 13th century and is now a Grade I listed building.  There was a church in the village during the 12th century which was replaced by the present building.  It was associated with Montacute Priory, as part of its foundation estate which was granted by William, Count of Mortain and remained linked to the Priory until the dissolution of the monasteries between 1536 and 1541.

The church as it stands today would probably be recognisable to Thomas.  The original building was remodelled with the addition of a chancel arch in the 14th century, with the perpendicular windows of the nave being added in the 15th century. The interior includes a 15th century octagonal font and an altar table and octagonal panelled timber pulpit from the 17th century.

It has a four-stage tower with the top stage, parapet and the north-east stair turret being added to the original 13th century work during 1516 and 1517.  The earlier three-stage tower is in the Early English Period and supported by angle buttresses.  The tower has five bells.

Thomas married Elizabeth.
Children from this marriage were:
i.     Thomas Prydell (1500 - 1546)

Elizabeth                           end of lineage
Elizabeth was born about 1458 and died in 1508 in Tintinhull in Somerset.
