John Prydell
John is the son of John Prydell and Elizabeth and was born in 1568 in Tintinhull in Somerset and died in 1633.  He was buried on the 21st of February 1633 in Tintinhull.

In this year, 1568;
  • 16th May, Mary, the former queen of Scotland, flees to England;
  • 23rd September, Battle of San Juan de Ulua in the Anglo-Spanish War:  In the Gulf of Mexico, a Spanish fleet forces English privateers to end their campaign.
Tintinhull is a village five miles north-west of Yeovil in Somerset.  The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.  The surrounding landscape shows evidence of 2000 years of farming.  The Church of St. Margaret of Antioch in Tintinhull dates from the 13th century and was associated with Montacute Priory, as part of its foundation estate which was granted by William, Count of Mortain and remained linked to the Priory until the dissolution of the monasteries.

John married Agnes Bursey on the 19th of April 1596 in Tintinhull.   He was married under the name of Prydell.  It is likely that the marriage took place at St. Margaret’s along with the baptisms that have been found.

Children from this marriage were:
i.      Charity Priddle – (1598 – 1613)
ii.     Grace Priddle – (1598 – 1671)
iii.    John Prydell – (1600 – 1601)
       Baptised on the 20th of July 1600 in St. Margaret's in Tintinhull in Somerset.
       Buried on the 20th of September 1601 in St. Margaret's in Tintinhull in Somerset.

iv.    John Priddle – (1602 – 1611)
v.     Thomas Priddle – (1604 – 1666)
vi.    Bathsheiba Priddle – (1607 - )
vii.   Rosemary Priddle – (1607 - )
viii. John Priddle – (1613 – April 1659)
       Baptised on the 9th of July 1613 in St. Margaret's in Tintinhull in Somerset.
       Married Alice (1613 - before 1643)
       Married Marie Chaffie (1616 - 1653) on the 4th of January 1643 in Stoke sub Hamdon in Somerset.
       Buried on the 16th of April 1659 presumably in St. Margaret's in Tintinhull in Somerset.

Agnes Bursey                                     end of lineage
Agnes was born in 1576 in Somerset.  She died in 1633 in Tintinhull at the age of 57.

It is possible that Agnes was Agnes Marshe as there is a marriage in Martock in Somerset of John Bursye to Agnes Marshe on the 26th of June 1588.  From the register of marriages 1599 – 1812.  So her marriage to John would be her second and she would have been born about 1570.

Martock is about three miles west of Tintinhull.

There is a burial for an Agnes Priddle on the 19th of January 1626 in North Petherton in Somerset, where North Petherton is about 25 miles west of Tintinhull.
